The Savoy has announced that Anne Lomas, formerly General Manager at Simpson’s in the Strand, will take on the new role of Director of Restaurants at The Savoy.
In this role, Lomas will oversee The Savoy’s restaurants – Kaspar’s at The Savoy, Thames Foyer, Simpson’s in the Strand – as well as the In-Room Dining offering, Melba and Savoy Tea. She will also support the other Food & Beverage venues and undertake further responsibilities within the broader Food & Beverage department at The Savoy.
Since her appointment as General Manager at Simpson’s in the Strand in May 2017, Lomas has not only seen this rich-in-history establishment through a full refurbishment, but has also driven this restaurant to be the successful and well-loved culinary landmark it is today.
Raoul Duclos, Director of Operations, commented, ‘Anne is a positive and gregarious individual who has shown herself to be an incredible leader as General Manager of Simpson’s in the Strand over the past two years.
'Alongside developing the business, Anne has also developed an outstanding team, nurturing colleagues and focusing on career progression. We look forward to seeing Anne bring her personable charm and expertise to this exciting new role.
Lomas began working in hospitality by chance aged eighteen; whilst travelling in New Zealand, she took a job at a wine bar and quickly rose to the position of manager. Following this, Anne moved to London where she worked at Nicolas Wine Merchant in Canary Wharf, before stepping up to take on the role of Head Sommelier at Roast.
Lomas then went on to 45 Park Lane and then to Shangri-La at the Shard, where she was Restaurant Manager and Head Sommelier of the TING Restaurant and Lounge.
Thirty-five years after women were first allowed to dine at Simpson’s in the Strand, Lomas was appointed as the first female General Manager in its eminent history.
