Pizza Hut Delivery has today announced a new partnership with Beyond Meat – the latest development in a series of growth moments for Pizza Hut in the UK.
For a limited time only, Pizza Hut is trialing Beyond Meat plant-based meat pizzas in the UK to meet customer demand for more plant-based, vegetarian and flexitarian options.
Pizza Hut will be the first national pizza chain in the UK to offer Beyond Meat toppings. The Beyond Meat toppings (Beyond Pork Crumbles, Beyond Beef Crumbles and Beyond Italian Style Sausage) have been developed to have the same taste and flavour profile as the regular meat toppings from Pizza Hut so our customers can enjoy the same great tasting pizzas with new plant-based protein options.
The UK Beyond Meat partnership will offer five new plant-based meat pizza options that include both new flavours and twists on Pizza Hut favourites, and will be available for a limited time only in five locations in Luton, Liverpool and London from 10th November until supplies last.
This landmark announcement comes as part of a broader launch between the two brands that is anchored in delivering mouthwatering and sustainable cutting-edge innovations to pizza lovers in the UK and beyond. Starting today, fans in the United States will also be able to enjoy Beyond Pan Pizzas at Pizza Hut restaurants nationwide for a limited time while supplies last.
The Beyond Meat trial is the latest in a long line of Pizza Hut creations. Pizza Hut has been a fan favourite in the UK since it introduced its signature pan pizza to the country in 1980 and brought Stuffed Crust to the world in 1995.
Regina Borda, Managing Director of Pizza Hut UK & Europe, said, “We’re thrilled to continue pushing the boundaries on pizza with our new Beyond Meat partnership. We love being known for our fan favourites and as a brand we are always striving to innovate and deliver new products to surprise and delight our customers.
'We know that consumers are looking for more plant-based options for health, environmental and lifestyle considerations, and aim to ensure they have access to these new options while maintaining our great tasting pizzas!
'Beyond Meat is the perfect partner to do so, and we worked hard to create just the right flavours ensuring these Beyond Pizzas score just as highly, if not more highly in taste tests than our well-known favourites.”
Ethan Brown, CEO of Beyond Meat, said, “Our partnership with Pizza Hut is a category first and together we will continue to raise the bar on game changing product innovations.
'We’re thrilled to be on this journey with Pizza Hut that enables us to further increase access to delicious, better-for-you plant-based meat as we continue to expand our partnership with Yum! Brands.”
While the hospitality industry – particularly dine-in restaurants – has been affected by Covid-19, Pizza Hut saw growth of 565,000 transactions during lockdown (late March – July, as compared with the same time last year).
An encouraging sign for continued growth, Pizza Hut Delivery, the UK franchise operator of Pizza Hut International, is currently recruiting for over 2.500 new positions to continue meeting Britain’s demand for delivery and is expanding its footprint by 125 locations over the next 3 years, which will include an expected boost of an additional 2,000 jobs.
