Michelin-starred chef, Nieves Barragán Mohacho, partners with Brugal rum for 'La Casa Brugal'

This October, ultra-premium rum brand, Brugal, will partner with Michelin-starred chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho to bring its Dominican homeland to the UK with a unique culinary experience at Sabor, London.

Inspired by the growing trend for collaborative dinner parties, Nieves and Brugal will unveil a five-course sharing menu exploring the Dominican flavour profiles of double-aged Brugal 1888 rum at a special series of family-style dining experiences for consumers and trade.

A global experiential initiative, ‘La Casa Brugal’ offers new communities across the world the chance to discover the exceptional taste, craftsmanship and story of Brugal while experiencing a unique twist inspired by each city. Debuting in the UK last October with an East London neighbourhood café bar that brought local communities of consumers and artisans together to celebrate the best of the East-end and give back to this community with all proceeds donated to local charity, FoodCycle. Giving back is one of Brugal’s founding principles as established by its founder, Andrés Brugal, in 1888. Today, the Brugal
Foundation continues this work as one of the leading charity foundations in the Dominican Republic.

Now for the first time, La Casa Brugal will delve into London’s culinary scene with one of the city’s most celebrated Spanish chefs, giving all profits from La Casa Brugal ticket sales to a local London charity. The partnership celebrates both Nieves and Brugal, a fifth-generation family rum business, who each share a dedication to innovation, the fusion of different notes and flavours and honour past traditions handed down by their families.

La Casa Brugal guests will be seated around a communal table at Sabor and invited to enjoy new dishes masterfully paired with bespoke Brugal 1888 cocktails that truly celebrate the moment together. Signature serves, including The Legacy Spritz, Cafecito Martini, Maestro’s Welcome and The Voyage, will explore the Spanish roots of Brugal’s founder Andrés Brugal and his voyage to the Dominican Republic. The flavour profiles of Brugal rum will bring out the very best of Nieves’ Spanish cuisine, balancing full bodied dishes through notes of natural oak spice, vanilla, red fruits and toffee.

Speaking about the partnership, Managing Director Ultra-Premium and Strategy, Eileen Livingston, said:
