The Belfry Hotel & Resort, located in the heart of Royal Sutton Coldfield, has named Katie Niland as its new Commercial Director. This promotion highlights her proven track record of inspiring excellence and driving growth. In her new role, Katie will steer the award-winning resort through the next exciting phase of its ambitious £80 million expansion.
With over three decades of experience in the hospitality industry and a decade as Sales Director at The Belfry, Katie brings extensive leadership expertise to her new role as Commercial Director. In this position, she will drive the resort's commercial success by aligning the sales, revenue, resort desk, and marketing teams under a unified, purposeful, and inspiring strategy.
Commenting on her promotion, Katie said: “It’s such an exciting time for The Belfry, so becoming Commercial Director is an incredible opportunity. I have a fantastic team around me and, together, I know there will be no limit to what we can achieve. As we cement The Belfry’s reputation as a word-class leisure and events destination, I’m energised for the task ahead and excited by its potential.”
A distinguished ambassador and role model for gender equality, as well as a steadfast advocate for the hospitality industry, Katie earned a spot on the Boutique Hotelier Power List in 2022, recognising her significant contributions to the field. She is an active member of several industry associations, including mia and beam, and regularly participates as a speaker at panels and events. Additionally, she plays a key role in facilitating The Belfry's use as a host venue for these gatherings.

Set to open in September 2025, The Belfry's largest event space to date, The Masters Suite, is currently under construction. Additionally, a cutting-edge new Leisure Club is being built, and the resort’s 2AA Rosette restaurant, The Ryder Grill, is expanding to accommodate over 150 more guests.
