Compass heads up kitchen for BT Tower 50th anniversary

From 25 July, the BT Tower’s restaurant is reopening, operated by Compass, for two weeks to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Compass head chef Dan Perea is leading the kitchen for the duration which will serve up a four course lunch menu and a seven course dinner menu.

Main dishes include Roasted hake with heirloom tomatoes, smoked tomato coulis, preserved lemon, and Spiced Gressingham duck breast, crispy confit leg with broccoli, hazelnut, apricot.

For desserts there is Lemon posset, burnt meringue & lemon sorbet, and Dark chocolate mousse, white chocolate ganache & hazelnut salted caramel ice cream.

Tables are available via a ballot system and around 1,400 diners are expected to enjoy this special experience.

The restaurant opened in 1965, when the building was known as the Post Office Tower, and closed in 1980 amid fears it could be the target for an IRA bombing.
