Brains has joined the Straws Suck campaign and has stopped giving out plastic straws with every soft drink across eight of its pubs.
The Straws Suck campaign is a global movement in the hospitality industry to reduce plastic straw usage. Plastic constitutes approximately 90 per cent of all waste floating on the sea’s surface. Plastic straws add significantly to this problem and are entirely avoidable.
Many pubs are doing their part by joining the movement to ‘Go Green’ and are only giving out straws when they are requested; no longer giving them out automatically.
Brains is piloting the scheme in eight pubs across South Wales, with the intention to roll out the campaign across all our pubs at a later date.
Pubs involved in the initial trial of the Straws Suck campaign are; Yard Bar and Kitchen, Ty Mawr, Red Dragon, Fox and Hounds, Ty Risha, Pear Tree, Malsters Llandaff and Penwig.
