Rockliffe Hall to undergo £200,000 refurbishment

Rockliffe Hall, the luxury hotel in County Durham, is to undergo a £200,000 refurbishment in January which included the expansion of its Old Hall and their restaurant the Orangery.

The owners of the five-star hotel plan to turn the site into a luxury leisure resort with three restaurants, a golf course and a spa. The property reopened in November 2009 following a £65m renovation project to transform the run-down building which dates back to the 19th century.

The expansion will mean 20 jobs will be created over the next 18 months to grow the current team of 40.

Work on its Michelin-starred restaurant the Orangery, which is run by renowned chef Kenny Atkinson, will include a full refurbishment and expansion of its dining area, kitchen and wine cellar. The number of covers will be increased to 80 and opening hours will also be extended to include lunchtimes.
