John McLean has been promoted to managing director of the Stafford Collection hotel group.
The promotion comes less than a year after McLean joined the company as general manager, having previously worked at the Cadogan hotel in London.
The Stafford Collection includes the Stafford London hotel in Mayfair, Northcote in Lancashire, and the Norma restaurant in London’s Fitzrovia.
McLean said: “I am deeply honoured to step into the role of managing director at the Stafford Collection, which includes the Stafford London, one of the most prestigious hotels in the capital, Northcote, with a Michelin star restaurant in Ribble Valley; and Norma, a Sicilian restaurant in Fitzrovia, London.
'Over the past seven months, it has been a privilege to collaborate with the exceptionally talented teams behind these iconic and storied properties. It is an even greater privilege to now lead these remarkable teams as we continue to celebrate the heritage of our properties while steering the portfolio towards an exciting and dynamic future.
'On a personal note, this opportunity holds special significance for me. My journey in London began over 30 years ago, right here at the Stafford London, where I worked as a chef. Returning now, it has been truly heartwarming to reconnect with familiar faces from those early days. I am excited and inspired by the road ahead and look forward to contributing to the continued success of this extraordinary collection.”
McLean previously served as general manager at The Kensington in South Kensington, hotel manager at Brown’s Hotel in Mayfair, and executive head of food and beverage at The Lanesborough, also in Mayfair.
McLean is a Springboard ambassador and a fellow of both the Australian Institute of Management and the Institute of Hospitality in the UK.
