Caffè Nero announces record UK Christmas sales

Caffè Nero has reported a record Christmas trading season in the UK, including its highest-ever daily sales.

The London-based coffee chain stated that total sales for the five weeks ending 30 December 2024 were 14% higher than the previous year. Weekly sales exceeded £9m ($10.9m) for two consecutive weeks, with a record daily sales figure of £1.5m ($1.8m) on 30 November 2024.

Sales growth was fuelled by record transactions in the first week of December 2024, with over two million customers served across Caffè Nero’s 627 UK stores. More than 40% of all transactions during the five-week period were made through the Nero app.

Founder and group CEO, Gerry Ford said: “Despite a challenging macro-economic climate and the impact of two very disruptive storms, we performed extremely well.

“The record number of customers who chose to visit our stores shows we are continuing to gain market share and the strength of our store teams and the impact our festive menu made a real difference. Not only did we serve 2 million customers in the UK during the festive period, but we sold 175,000 tiramisu lattes and 100,000 mince pies.”

Founded in 1997, Caffè Nero is the fourth-largest branded coffee chain in the UK by outlets and the largest operator within The Nero Group, which also manages the Coffee#1, Harris+Hoole, 200 Degrees, and FCB Coffee chains.
