FT names Wafflemeister among Europe’s fastest-rising food & beverage businesses

Wafflemeister has been ranked as the third fastest-growing UK company in the food and beverage sector by the FT1000: Europe’s Fastest-Growing Companies 2025.

The company has been ranked the third fastest-growing company in the UK, following Simmer Eats and KCS, the sixth fastest-growing in the food and beverage sector across Europe, and 148th across all industries.

This marks Wafflemeister’s first appearance on the list, joining fellow UK companies like Knoops, Wild Cosmetics, Wingstop, and Dash Water.

The ninth edition of the FT1000 ranking, compiled by the Financial Times and data research company Statista, highlights 1,000 European companies ranked by their compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2020 to 2023. To make the list, companies needed a minimum average growth rate of 34.8%.

Wafflemeister achieved an impressive CAGR of 127.4%, growing its revenue from just over €1 million in 2020 to more than €12 million in 2023. During this period, the company expanded its network from one wholesaler to over 90 and entered the retail markets in the UK, Spain, Sweden, Iceland, and New Zealand. In 2023, Wafflemeister also launched its own foundation, dedicated to making a positive impact through food and hospitality-related charitable initiatives.

To qualify for the list, a company must meet the following criteria: be headquartered in one of 35 European countries, generate at least €100,000 in revenue in 2020, achieve a minimum of €1.5 million in revenue in 2023, demonstrate primarily organic revenue growth during this period, and remain independent.

Businesses named on the FT1000 exhibited not only fast growth, but organic and therefore sustainable growth over the past several years – including the years of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Rikos Leong-Son, CEO, Wafflemeister, said: “We’re so proud of how the whole team successfully navigated the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic – adjusting, readjusting, innovating and adapting, showing incredible resilience during this period. As a result, the business emerged stronger than ever. Since the reporting period, our business has continued to grow sustainably, and firmly cemented its place as one of Europe’s favourite waffle brands.”
