Müller UK & Ireland has expanded its product portfolio with the acquisition of kefir brand Biotiful Gut Health.
Although Müller has not revealed the exact value of the acquisition, the multi-million pound deal is expected to support the company’s expansion into the functional health yoghurt and drinks market.
Biotiful, founded by Natasha Bowes in 2012, reported a slight drop in pre-tax profits to £2.4 million for the year ending 31 March 2024, with a turnover of £35.5 million.
The deal follows Müller’s earlier acquisition of the family-owned Yew Tree Dairy, completed in late 2024.
The acquisition was intended to strengthen the company’s milk powder production capabilities, support the growth of its export business, enhance supply chain resilience, and help secure a positive future for the British dairy industry.
Commenting on the deal in June 2024, Rob Hutchinson, chief executive of Müller Milk and Ingredients, said: “Yew Tree Dairy boasts outstanding processing capabilities, a skilled team with deep expertise, and strong partnerships with both its customers and supplying farms.”
“When combined with our well-invested and resilient network, I am very confident that these two family-owned businesses will complement each other really well.”
Müller’s UK and Ireland division reported pre-tax losses of £65.3 million in 2023, following a loss of £6.2 million in 2022.
