The success of a leading North East-based leisure company is set to continue in 2025, with plans to launch four new venues.
STACK, known for transforming repurposed shipping containers and revitalising redundant buildings into food and entertainment hubs, had a highly successful 2024 with the launch of three new sites.
This success is set to be surpassed in 2025, with the company confirming the opening of four more sites over the next 12 months.
The highly anticipated flagship site at the historic Worswick Chambers is on track to open in late spring as STACK Newcastle.
Located near the original STACK, this large-scale development will be the biggest to date. It will feature eight bars, eight street food vendors, a coffee shop, a cocktail bar, and SIDESHOW – a competitive socialising area with interactive shuffleboard, darts, and private karaoke booths. The venue will also include a roof terrace, an outdoor courtyard with a stage, and a big screen.
Following this, STACK Bishop Auckland will open in the summer, a purpose-built two-story building with a roof terrace located on Newgate Street. STACK Durham is set to open in the autumn in the city's former Marks & Spencer store.
STACK Whitley Bay, located in the former Empress Ballroom, is also set to open in the winter.
After that, STACK Bishop Auckland will open in the summer, featuring a purpose-built two-story building with a roof terrace on Newgate Street. STACK Durham is expected to open in the autumn in the former Marks & Spencer store in the city.
Neill Winch, CEO of STACK, confirmed that, in addition to these projects, progress is also being made on several other sites across the country.
“We are at varying stages with our sites in Sheffield, Leeds, Carlisle, Wigan, Northampton, and Manchester, but we are making great progress with all of them,” he said.
Plans also include a second phase development at STACK Seaburn in Sunderland, with planning applications currently going through the official process.
This continued growth follows the success of the three STACK venues that opened last year.
“We had an incredible year, with all sites performing well above expectations,” said Neill.
“It’s clear that our formula works – a carefully curated mix of excellent quality street food, vibrant bars, and first-class entertainment tailored for everyone.
