Pladis has promoted its UK & Ireland Managing Director, David Murray, to the newly established role of Global Chief Commercial Officer.
After leading Pladis UK & Ireland for five years, Murray will now oversee the company’s global platform, brand strategy, and commercial transformation in his new role.
Effective 6 April, Mete Buyurgan, a Pladis veteran, will succeed Murray as UK & Ireland Managing Director.
Buyurgan transitions to Pladis' UK & Ireland division from its Turkish, Eastern Europe, and Central Asian operations, which he has led since 2016.
Under Buyurgan’s leadership, Pladis Türkiye, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia achieved revenue and profit growth despite significant challenges and positioned itself at the forefront of the sustainability debate, according to Pladis.
Founded in 2016, Pladis operates with a team of 16,000 across 27 bakeries and factories in 11 countries, with its brands sold in over 110 nations.
“While our brands like McVitie’s and Ülker have been part of people’s lives for decades, Pladis is still a young business having started life nine years ago,” said Pladis chief human resources officer Geraldine Fraser.
“We have made tremendous progress together on our mission to build one of the world’s fastest-growing snacks companies.
“We take another step on that journey to evolve our business and position us for continued growth in an ever-changing retail and consumer landscape.”
This follows the departure of Salman Amin, who stepped down as Pladis CEO last month for personal reasons.
CFO Sridhar Ramamurthy and European MD Tim Brett have temporarily assumed leadership on an interim basis, according to a statement from Pladis Chairman Murat Ülker, until a permanent replacement is appointed.
