Boxpark appoint Matt Snell as CEO

Hospitality and leisure group Boxpark has appointed Matt Snell as its new Chief Executive.

Before joining Boxpark, Matt Snell worked at British meal kit retailer Gusto Italian, where he started as Managing Director in 2018 before being promoted to CEO in 2020. In this role, he led the company's expansion across the UK.

Prior to that, Snell held senior roles at well-known hospitality brands, including Fuller’s, Smith & Turner, and Red’s True Barbecue.

As Chief Operating Officer of brewing specialist Fuller’s from 2012 to 2015, Matt Snell oversaw a division of 98 premium unbranded and self-catering pubs and hotels across southern England, leading a team of eight direct employees. He also served on Fuller’s board.

In his new role, Snell will focus on expanding Boxpark’s presence in the UK food, drink, and entertainment sectors, with an emphasis on exploring new collaborations and partnerships.

Matt Snell appointment follows the recent hiring of Chris Burford as Chief Financial Officer. In his role, Burford is responsible for supporting and strengthening the company’s operations and growth strategy.

In 2024, the group opened two new Boxpark venues in Liverpool and Camden and recently announced a lease extension for its flagship site in Shoreditch.

The company also recently announced the launch of a new food hall concept, Boxhall, in Liverpool Street.

Boxpark chair Paul Thandi commented on the hire and the recent developments: “We’ve had a great year opening new sites, developing new concepts, building incredible guest experiences and doing what we do best,” he said. “As we continue to grow, we need world-class leaders with the skills to help achieve our business goals. I am delighted to welcome Matt to the team who brings a wealth of experience and will mark an exciting new chapter to the Boxpark journey.”
